ROLEX 9K GOLD OYSTER PERPETUAL 1961
This is a very rare Rolex 9K gold Oyster Perpetual from 1961 this model is the 1002, it has the light Silver Pearl Sun-burst Dial which contrasts beautifully and the condition is superb. This watch is fitted with the 1560 Superlative Chronometer Automatic movement. These movements are highly accurate and reliable and will give over a lifetimes service. The watch comes with a Tan crocodile strap and is truly stunning. This is a beautifully cared for example with only the minimal restoration, making this a stunning watch to own.

History
In 1905, Hans Wilsdorf founded in London “ Wilsdorf & Davis” a wholesaler company. The same year, he signed a contract to distribute the Aegler wristwatches brand in UK. In 1908, he creates his own brand called “Rolex” abbreviation of “Rolling Export”. In 1914, Wilsdorf won a class “A” rating certificate from the Kew observatory in England. In 1914, “Les Fils de jean Aegler become Rolex Watch Co. Aegler SA, Manufacture d’Horlogerie”. In 1920, Wilsdorf founded “Montres Rolex SA” in Geneva. In 1926, he patented a watchcase with a screw down crown. In 1927 the “Oyster” was born when Mercedes Gleitze crossed the Channel in 15 hours and 15 minutes. In 1931, came the “Perpetual”, then the “Datejust” in 1945. Rolex makes its own movements and produce over 700,000 watches a year many being iconic like the Daytona, Submariner or the Prince to name a few.

The 9K Gold case measures 34.5mm approximately, without the twin lock crown. The case is unmarked and has never been inscribed. This case is in Superb condition having only been slightly restored. These cases are often excessively over polished and lose complete definition, this dose not apply to our watches as we have a top restoration service.
DIAL:
Light Silver Pearl Sun-burst with Applied Gold Faceted Baton Indexes – Here we have the original oyster perpetual date dial with gold baton indexes and it is in excellent condition.The dial is signed “Rolex Oyster Perpetual”, “Superlative Chronometer”, “Officially certified”, “Swiss ”. This is something special!
This is the original Rolex dial but it may have been refinished or restored to a very high standard at some time in its life, just superb condition.

The movement has been thoroughly serviced and calibrated by our in-house master watchmaker and is warranted for 12 months. The movement is signed Montres Rolex SA, Geneva, Swiss, 25 Jewels, 25 adjusted 5 positions, 1560. These movements last a lifetime and more.
